Rail passengers in Lincolnshire are facing massive disruption this morning after a bridge suddenly collapsed in Leicestershire.

East Midlands Trains services in and out of Lincoln Central Station to Grimsby, Market Rasen and Leicester are affected.

Network Rail are still on the scene (4pm) working to clear the blocked line.

Disruptions are expected for most of Tuesday, August 2 as Network Rail work to clear the route.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Owing to a bridge collapse at Barrow upon Soar, train services between Leicester and Loughborough will be disrupted today.

“This will affect journeys on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Leicester and the Leicester/Lincoln/Grimsby routes.”
