A Lincolnshire teenager has denied charges of attempted murder after a serious crash near Gainsborough.

James Smith, 19, from Gainsborough appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, August 4.

He faced charges relating to a suspected hit-and-run crash involving a 4×4 vehicle on the A631 near Beckingham, Nottinghamshire on April 26.

He admitted causing grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving, but denied attempted murder.

A 19-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in the incident and was treated in Sheffield for a head injury.

Smith is due to be sentenced in Nottingham on August 12.
