A 16-year-old boy returning from a gay pride event has been the victim of a homophobic attack by a group of men at Scunthorpe station.

Three of the men followed the boy from the platform to the front of the station, before approaching and kicking him to steal a pride flag he was carrying.

The men, who were reported to have been speaking with a Polish accent, made several homophobic comments during the attack.

They then crossed the road and walked in the direction of the old post office.

The alleged hate crime incident occurred at around 9.30pm on Sunday, August 6.

DC Ian Grice said: “This was a terrifying experience for the young victim who was returning from an enjoyable day out.

“We will not tolerate hate crime and nor should anyone else. It is vital we find those responsible for this vile attack.

“We believe the men in the image will have information about what happened and we urge anyone who recognises them to contact us.”
