The trust in charge of hospitals in North and North East Lincolnshire has appointed a new chairperson.

Anne Shaw, who has been a non-executive director at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust for three years, has started in her role.

Anne is from the East Riding of Yorkshire but began her professional career as a staff nurse working in the A&E department at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

For six years she was a public sector director for a Doncaster learning and skills partnership.

Previously, Anne was also a director of Aim Higher Humber, working across all four local authorities including East Riding, Hull, North and North East Lincolnshire, supporting and encouraging young people into higher education.

Chairman Dr Jim Whittingham is leaving after two full terms in the role having been appointed in 2010.

Chief executive Karen Jackson said: “I would like to thank Jim on behalf of the executive team for all his hard work and time he has dedicated to the trust during his years as chairman and on a personal level the support he has given to me.

“I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Anne as she takes up her new role.”

Jim said: “Anne was appointed following a highly competitive process and brings with her several year of experience of the challenges and issues faced by the Trust and our local community.”

Anne said: “I am very honoured and delighted to have been appointed as trust chair by the governing body and will do my utmost to fulfil their expectations.

“The trust faces many challenges as we move forward with transforming our services while ensuring the highest quality of care we can for our patients.”
