A 46-year-old man will appear at Lincoln Crown Court to face charges of an alleged offence following a sting from a team of self-named ‘paedophile hunters’ who claimed to have snared him by posing as a teenage schoolgirl online.

Daniel Swift was seen at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 17 after police charged him with an offence under the Criminal Attempt Act.

No plea was entered and the matter was sent to crown court. He was remanded into custody until his hearing with them on May 15.

The police charges came after a video was posted by Shane Brannigan of the group Not of Normal Criminal Element on Facebook. The group claimed to have exchanged messages with a man by posing as a 14-year-old schoolgirl.

Shane is known for his attempts across the UK to publicly catch potential child sex offenders.

His crew film the raids as they happen live. The video allegedly filmed in Lincoln has been shared and viewed by thousands of people on Facebook.

The man in the footage is said to have invited the ‘girl’ to come back to his flat for sex.

Confronted in his home, the man is shown in a litter-shrewn room arguing ‘nothing was going happen’.
