Fundraising page launched after boy, 10, hit by tree and telegraph pole in freak accident

A fundraising page has been set up for a 10-year-old boy who suffered serious spinal injuries after being struck by a tree in a freak accident over the weekend.

The incident happened at around 3.15pm on Saturday, May 27, when a tree fell onto the pavement on South Street in Alford.

This also caused a telegraph pole to fall on the young boy.

The 10-year-old boy was flown to Lincoln County Hospital with spinal injuries, while a nine-year-old boy, an 18-year-old woman and a 67-year-old woman were taken to Pilgrim Hospital with less serious injuries.

After being flown to Lincoln County Hospital, the 10-year-old boy has now been transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with spinal injuries and will need a number of operations to fix broken bones.

Family friend Dean Trewick hopes to raise £500 to go towards to boy’s care and ease “the financial burden at this sad time.”

Dean, who set up the page, said: “On May 27 in Alford our friend’s son, whilst walking, was hit by a falling tree, which brought down a telegraph pole as well.

“This freak accident has left him with many injuries which will need operations and time at home to recover. He has now been transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

“Please can we help the family out and pull together as a community and dig deep to at least ease the financial burden at this sad time.

“Thank you all in advance for your generosity.”
