A former personal trainer is launching a new gym with a focus on small group training in Lincoln.

Simon Ward has moved away from machines in his newly created Lincs FitBox and will, instead, put the emphasis on special classes and one-to-one sessions using basic equipment like ropes, weights tyres and boxing gear.

The gym, in Unit 5, Churchills Business Park, Sleaford Road, Bracebridge Heath officially opens on Tuesday, May 30.

Simon will be joined by ex-RAF PTI Instructor Grant Lawrie in running the sessions and the gym will be open from 5.30am to 8.30pm.

The gym will offer boot camp classes, circuits, boxing and strongman sessions – with tailored sessions for people training for a specific goal.

To ensure the community feel of the gym is maintained Simon plans to establish a members’ committee and will be offering free monthly sessions to the forces, emergency service personnel and charity workers.

Simon, 39, said: “Our ethos is to create a fun, friendly and encouraging atmosphere, to help build confidence.

“Many people just feel too intimidated by large gyms full of complicated machines. Often it’s quite hard to understand what each machine does and which ones to use.

“We want our gym to be simple and for our customers to feel part of a community with people in groups supporting and helping each other out.”
