Passers-by rescued a driver trapped by a fallen tree outside Lincoln train station on Wednesday evening.

Due to wind and rain, a large tree outside the train station collapsed onto a car at around 6.30pm.

The driver was trapped in the car and was rescued by people outside the station.

An eyewitness who did not want to be named told The Lincolnite: “There was a loud crunch as the tree was uprooted and seemed to fall in slow motion across the entrance into the car park.

“It landed on a car turning in, buried it, but pedestrians seemed to somehow avoid the fall.

“People rushed to the driver and helped him out and checked for others.”

The driver appeared unharmed, the eyewitness added.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
