A 22-year-old Sleaford man has been arrested in connection with an alleged plan to hack into Microsoft’s network.

The 22-year-old was arrested alongside a 25-year-old man from Bracknell on Thursday, June 22.

It is believed the two men are part of a larger group which repeatedly tried to infiltrate the Microsoft network in order to attempt to steal customer information.

Both men have now been charged under the UK’s Computer Misuse Act that criminalises unauthorised access to computers.

Devices have also been seized in connection with the attack.

Detective Sergeant Rob Bryant said: “After speaking with Microsoft, we can confirm they did not gain access to customer information.

“It is too early to speculate on what information the group has accessed.”
