Peterloo is a real-life story based on the massacre in Manchester during 1819 where 15 people were killed as a cavalry charged at over 60,000 protesters leaving more than 400 injured.

Gainsborough Old Hall is currently restricted as a cast of more than 100 actors attend filming, but will reopen on Friday, July 7.

The film is expected to be Leigh’s biggest budget movie and will be in cinemas in 2018.
