UKIP has selected its candidate for the upcoming Scotter and Blyton by-election on West Lindsey District Council later this month.

Nev Jones is an HGV driver and international motorcycle racer who was brought up in Blyton and lives in Gainsborough.

He is keen to promote and incentivise local small and medium size businesses, protect local NHS services and develop tourism in the area.

UKIP chairman John Saxon said: “Nev brings a breath of fresh air to politics in West Lindsey.

“A hard-working, family man and a competitive international motorcyclist has a passion for racing in championships at major race venues at up to 180mph and can often be seen on the Sky Sports channel.

“Nev is committed to improving the lives of people in Lincolnshire, the county he loves so dearly.

“I know he would make a wonderful and committed district councillor and a worthwhile ambassador, not just for Scotter and Blyton, but Lincolnshire as a whole.”

The by-election takes place on Thursday, July 27.
