Lincoln City’s return to the football league ended in a 2-2 draw away to Wycombe Wanderers.

New signing Matt Green opened the scoring in the first half before Wycombe hit back with two quick-fire goals.

Josh Ginnelly equalised for the Imps three minutes into the second half but neither team managed to find a winner.

Both teams failed to create many goal scoring chances throughout the game, however Sean Raggett dealt with the presence of Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa brilliantly.

Debutant Green opened the scoring when Wycombe failed to clear Lincoln’s free-kick and Nathan Arnold ran through the defence before squaring the ball to Green to put the Imps a goal up.

Wycombe equalised moments later when Michael Bostwick misjudged Joe Jacobson’s free-kick and Luke O’Nein was given a free header at the centre of the goal.

The home side went ahead after Jacobsen slotted his low free-kick into the bottom corner just minutes after O’Nein’s leveller.

Josh Ginnelly came close for Lincoln in the opening ten minutes but his close-range shot was saved by goalkeeper Scott Brown.

Ginnelly did get on the score sheet after Woodyard brilliantly controlled a loose ball before finding the on-loan Burnley man who scored with a first-time finish.

Danny Cowley’s men will now travel to Rotherham United on Tuesday for the first round of the Carabao Cup.
