Resurfacing and widening of road on edge of Lincolnshire town to begin later this month

There will be a road closure for the works.

Work will begin later this month on widening and resurfacing a Lincolnshire road in the north of the region.

North Lincolnshire Council’s improvements to Risby Road will start on August 27.

The road runs between Winterton Road (A1077) and Appleby (Ermine Street, B1207).

The first phase of work will involve moving electric cables and telephone cables, and widening part of the road.

Phase one is expected to complete in November 2017 and will be carried out in two sections.

The first section of work will take place from the Brackenholmes Road junction through Low Risby, towards Appleby.

The second section of phase one will be from Winterton Road towards and including the bends at Sawcliffe Farm.

Work will be carried out during a road closure for the safety of the workforce and public.

Access will be maintained to properties and to people who live along the road, except when work is carried out adjacent to specific properties.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Work on the road will take place between the hours of 7.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Vehicles will be able to pass along the road with care outside of those working hours.

The second phase of work is scheduled for the next financial year, when widening of the road will be completed and it will be resurfaced.

Councillor Richard Hannigan, cabinet member for safer, greener and cleaner places at North Lincolnshire Council said: “We aim to carry out all road improvements with minimal disruption to residents and other traffic.

“We work closely with the utility companies to do this. Full road closures are only undertaken when completely necessary and for the safety of the workforce and the public.

“Once complete, the upgrades will mean that Risby Road is more accessible and safer. No work will take place overnight and vehicles will be able to pass with care at weekends during the improvement period.
