Bailgate home and gift shop Look to close after 20 years

“Thanks to all our loyal customers”

A long-established homeware, gifts and accessories business on Bailgate in Lincoln will close in the New Year due to retirement.

The business was launched 22 years ago by Viv Barlow, 60. She has been trading independently from the grade II listed building for 19 years,

She told The Lincolnite the shop would be closing around mid January and items will be on sale until then.

A letting has been agreed according to agents Lambert Smith Hampton.

Viv Barlow has run her business from the shop on Bailgate for the last 19 years.

Viv Barlow said: “I am retiring. There is a new business coming in next year, but I’m afraid I can’t give a lot of information. New people will be coming into the property.

Who will replace the 20-year-old gift shop?

“The business has been going for 22 years and we have been in this building for 19 years.

“The highlights? Finding things you like. I have only ever stocked things that I like or that I would have in my own home. It’s the kick from finding that other people agree with you.

“I am very grateful to all the loyal customers we have had. I know some are upset at the idea of me going. Nothing stays the same forever.”
