Lucky escape for driver after car bursts into flames on A180

Lucky driver.

A driver had a lucky escape after the car they were in burst into flames on the A180.

The driver fortunately came away with no injures from the incident which happened on Tuesday morning underneath where the B1211 crosses over the A180 between Barnetby Top and Brocklesby Interchange.

Humberside Fire & Rescue arrived at the scene at 8.35am with crews from Brigg and Immingham East and described the car as “well alight”.

The Humberside roads policing team posted a picture of the destroyed vehicle, showing the extent of the damage caused by the blaze.

A spokesperson from Humberside Fire & Rescue said: “The cause is believed to be accidental ignition from an assumed electrical fault, but this is not confirmed.”

Police were also in attendance.

The vehicle was recovered by recovery specialists Gallows Wood.
