Red Arrows pay tribute to engineer killed in jet crash

“Not just an exceptional colleague and dedicated engineer.”

The Red Arrows paid tribute to engineer Corporal Jonathan Bayliss who tragically died in a crash at RAF Valley this week.

As previously reported, Corporal Bayliss died when a Hawk T1 aircraft piloted by Red 3 crashed at RAF Valley at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, March 20.

The pilot of the aircraft, Flight Lt David Stark, managed to eject and was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Team leader and Red One Squadron Leader Martin Pert paid tribute to the 41-year-old engineer as “not just an exceptional colleague and dedicated engineer, but also a leader and a friend to so many.”

He said the Red Arrows were overwhelmed with the sheer amount of condolences messages they received after Corporal Bayliss’ tragic death.
