Lincoln painted red and white to support the Imps at Wembley

Up the Imps!

With excitement building ahead of Lincoln City’s first ever trip to Wembley, fans across the city are gearing up and showing their support.

Underdogs Lincoln City are playing Shrewsbury in their first ever trip to Wembley in the Checkatrade Trophy Final on Sunday, April 8 at 3pm.

But, another fierce competition is already getting underway as businesses on Steep Hill and the Bailgate are battling it out to have the best decorations in their shop fronts.

Shopkeepers are flying flags and scarves, showing off their football shirts and baking creative cakes – all to support the Imps ahead of the historic Wembley trip.

As previously reported, the Imps reached Wembley with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory after their semi-final against Chelsea’s Under-21s ended 1-1 after extra time.

Shrewsbury are currently in good form at second place in League One, the division above the Imps.

But, Lincoln City are heading to Wembley after a good spell of games, taking 13 points from the past five games, beating Carlisle, Exeter City, Grimsby Town and Chesterfield.
