Elderly woman assaulted outside Lincoln coffee shop

People rushed to help her

Police are investigating the reported assault of an elderly woman outside a coffee shop on Lincoln High Street.

One witness said the woman, described as in her 70s, was assaulted by a younger woman who knocked her to the ground near to the Cafe Nero coffee shop on the corner of St Marks.

Police told The Lincolnite the victim sustained injuries to her right arm.

It happened at around 1.50pm on Tuesday, May 29, Lincolnshire Police said.

It’s understood she walked away from the scene in the direction of the High Street level crossing.

Marcelle Simons, who witnessed the incident, posted on the You’re Probably from Lincoln If Facebook group that the victim had been holding a young child’s hand at the time of the alleged attack.

She also praised a group of people who had stopped to come to her aid.

She said the alleged attacker was “possibly mid 20s to late 30s”. She added she was “medium build, wearing a tight-fitting blazer, black in colour, and thin material.

“She had an over-the-shoulder satchel-type bag, which was black and white with horizontal stripes and fitted over her shoulder.

“She had shoulder-length blonde, wavy hair and had blue eyes her head down and was agitated and verbally aggressive when approached.”

Lincolnshire Police also added that they would like to hear from any businesses in the area who may have CCTV of the incident.
