Lincoln is lit! Hip hop video shows off city

The cathedral and castle were featured in the video

The cathedral and castle are among the top sights in Lincoln which have been featured in a hip hop music video (be aware of some explicit lyrics).

‘Retroville’ was released by two students from the University of Lincoln, with the song’s inspiration coming from the 1980s.

During the song, there are lots of 80s references like “ride the will like Ferris, live life like I’m Bueller,” and “build that wall like Gorbachev, tear it down like Reagan.”

Ikenna Odemelam, a singer and song writer, told The Lincolnite: “With the castle and cathedral, Lincoln has loads of rather aesthetic spots that are more than video worthy.

“We shot Retroville in the underground [High Street] tunnel, inside the castle walls and around the cathedral.

“It’s quite good because when you go uphill, you get stunning views and then there’s the stark contrast between old and new. Lincoln is lit!”
