Former paddock to become new Grantham housing

Designs for the new homes planned for Great Gonerby.

Plans for 46 homes on the site of a former paddock in Great Gonerby have been submitted to South Kesteven District Council.

Applicants Longhurst Group are looking to build the properties on land off Easthorpe Road which sits next to Manor Farm House.

A design and access statement submitted to WLDC says the new homes will be a mix of two-four-bed properties and will include a total of 94 car parking spaces.

The applicants say: “Careful consideration has been given to site constraints and sensitivities of the immediately surrounding area to develop a well designed site layout.

“The density and massing of the scheme is appropriate to the surrounding form of development.

“The proposed layout has been designed to respond to existing site constraints and make best use of vacant site on land allocated for residential development.

“The development will deliver much-needed affordable family housing to the local area supporting the social and economic needs of the district.”

According to the report more than 40 comments were received following a consultation event with concerns raised including increased traffic, insufficient infrastructure and the harm to the character of the village.

The plans will also include a ‘buffer’ of landscaping between it and Manor Farm House and a public open space at the southern end of the site.
