Why?! Vandal targets iconic Lincoln house

Strelitzia stands proud on the Lincoln hillside

A vandal has sprawled graffiti over an iconic local building, and it has left people wondering why someone would stoop so low.

The ‘Strelitzia’ building on Michaelgate has stood proud in the city for many years, but the white and yellow building has been given a new coat of paint.

A purple tag, which appears to spell out GNOD, can be seen from the east side of the building.

It will come as a shock to the owner, who has spent many years of his life personally working on the property.

The building was modelled on a bird of paradise flower, called the strelitzia, which inspired the house’s name and distinct design.

We were unable to get in touch with the owners of the building when we spotted the graffiti.

If they would like to speak to a reporter about the incident, the owners can contact the team via email on [email protected].
