Drug gang member jailed for over 18 years

A 51-year-old man who was part of an organised crime group supplying drugs into the East Midlands was sentenced to over 18 years in prison.

Darren Peters, of Maize Farm, East Heckington, was convicted for convicted for conspiracy to supply heroin  between June 2016 and March 2017.

He was sentenced to 18 and a half years in jail after a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday, March 7.

This follows the investigation into an organised crime group supplying drugs into the East Midlands area dubbed Operation Intruder. East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) carried out the year-long investigation.

A dozen members of the gang who brought cocaine and heroin into Lincolnshire were previously jailed for a combined total of 142 years imprisonment in November 2018.

Officers found that a combined total value of £4 million of heroin and cocaine had been supplied by the crime group, from Yorkshire to the East Midlands, in what was a highly organised and efficient running operation.

The investigation led to 11 members of the gang pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and one person found guilty following a four week trial.
