Woman with dementia tragically found dead after two day search

A missing woman with dementia has sadly been found dead after an extensive search in Spalding, family members confirmed.

Valerie Bycraft, 77, went missing from her home on Sunday evening, sparking a huge search in the town.

Officers combed fields, alleyways and parks in the town and appealed to local people to help with the search, as her family became increasingly concerned for her wellbeing.

Valerie was found overnight.

Her family posted on social media to thank local people for their help with the search, confirming she was found overnight too late.

Her son Timothy posted on Facebook on Wednesday morning: “Thank you everyone for looking for mum. Sadly she was found last night too late.”

Lincolnshire Police released a short statement at 10.30am on Wednesday, March 20: “Last night a body was found in Spalding.

“While formal identification has not yet taken place, officers believe it to be missing Spalding woman Valerie Bycraft. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Her family, who have been informed, would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the search.”
