Armed police make dramatic arrest after Cleethorpes gun alert

“We heard armed police shouting that they would be shot if they didn’t come out with their hands empty”

Armed police made a dramatic arrest after a worried resident told them about a suspected drug deal involving a gun.

Officers went to Brereton Avenue in Cleethorpes shortly after the report was made at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 18.

After a short negotiation with four men, the armed police arrested four men on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

The eyewitness who called in the drug deal reported that he saw a small handgun on one of the men’s waistbands.

A separate eyewitness told Lincolnshire Reporter: “We heard armed police shouting that they would be shot if they didn’t come out with their hands empty.”

At the time of writing, all four men remain in custody as Humberside Police’s investigations continue.
