Lincoln Castle cannon sitting out the battle

Timber! The cannon is nearly 300 years old

A cannon outside Lincoln Castle is in the firing line for repairs after it was toppled earlier this week.

Staff at the historic attraction noticed the damage on Sunday, July 21 but they’re not sure what or who caused it.

They’re now trying to get an expert in to get it repaired in the next week or so.

The canon dates back to 1721 and has been outside Lincoln Castle since 1982. Its wooden plinths were installed five years ago.
