Artist crafts beautiful sculpture out of diseased tree

It’s seven-metres tall and has had lots of people talking

A local artist has crafted a beautiful sculpture of two lovers out of a diseased tree for everyone to admire.

The homeowner on the corner of Wragby Road and Greetwell Road did not want the tree stump to go to waste, so asked her artist friend for help.

Andreolli Christian, an Austrian designer and artist, moved to Lincoln with his partner earlier this year and jumped at the opportunity.

He spent the next three weeks carving out two figures holding each other and had plenty of praise towards the end of his work.

It’s getting people talking.

The seven-metre tall piece is said to be completely solid after specialists cut out all of the fungus affecting the tree.

How the tree looked before

“People have been really happy about it,” Andreolli told The Lincolnite. “It’s good to make something for the local people to enjoy.”

Andreolli has over 30 years of experience as an artist and designer and has worked on projects in Austria, Italy, Cyprus, Dubai, Mauritius and the UK.

He continued: “I love being in Lincoln, I think that there is definitely more to come from my work here.”

Specialist equipment was needed to shape the tree

The final result — simply stunning
