Giant eel spotted swimming up Lincoln road

“It’s not every day you see a mahoosive eel in the middle of the road”

A gigantic eel shocked local residents when it was spotted over the weekend trying to swim up Monks Road.

Shannon Paige took a video of the creature on Saturday evening and said “it’s not every day you see a mahoosive eel in the middle of the road.”

Read about the latest flood alerts and warnings across the county. Heavy rain over the weekend saw rivers in Lincoln swell and spill into a number of streets, causing many to fear for their properties.

The Lincoln woman spotted the eel just outside the Lincolnshire Co-op store and sent a video of it slithering away to The Lincolnite.

As persistent rain battered Lincolnshire at the weekend, water levels rose in the city. The River Witham spilled into nearby paths and roads, and with it came some rarely spotted wildlife.

Many saw the funny side, like Shannon and her neighbourhood eel, and others were fearful of the future impact of flooding in the city and future housing developments.
