A Good Samaritan stopped to help

Police are looking for a group of three youths who allegedly attempted to steal a boy’s phone before punching him to the floor and repeatedly kicking him in the head.

The incident happened at around 12.40pm on Saturday, January 4 near Ropery Road in Gainsborough.

The victim, a 13-year-old boy, and his friend were cycling along the riverside pathway between Bargain Buys car park and the back of the chip shop, towards Trent Bridge, when three young males approached them.

One of the attackers tried to steal the victim’s phone. He then reportedly punched him, knocking him to the floor, and repeatedly kicked him in the head.

Lincolnshire Police have issued an appeal for witnesses.

In particular, investigating officers said they believe a man witnessed the attack and shouted at the suspect before the group ran away.
