Desperate appeals as Lincoln man goes missing in Germany

Family and friends are very concerned

A Lincoln man living in Germany has been missing for more than a week since leaving a nightclub in Munich.

Friends and family are desperately trying to make sure he’s safe after he posted a cryptic selfie on the night of his disappearance captioned ‘modern slave.’

Thirty-two-year-old Gareth Simon Hicks, who has also previously lived in Forfar in Scotland, is understood to have been with friends at Blitz Nightclub in Munich on the night of February 22.

He left alone unexpectedly and the last known contact was a social media post at around 3am on Sunday, February 23 and he has not been seen since.

He posted a selfie on Facebook with the words “modern slave”. He then commented on the post “get out of jail free”.

His family have been desperately sharing appeals to find him.

The Lucie Blackman Trust, which supports British nationals in crisis oversees, issued an appeal to try and help find Gareth, who is considered vulnerable.

Gareth posted this photo on his Facebook page on February 23 with the caption “modern slave”.

Gareth’s brother Stuart Hicks posted on social media to call for help. “It needs to go international,” he said. “The family are very worried and need to know he is safe.”

The search is accompanied on social media with #findgareth.

Gareth is described as six foot, two inches tall and of medium build with short, dark wavy hair and dark brown eyes. When last seen, Gareth was wearing a maroon, crew-neck jumper.
