Night closures for A46 Riseholme roundabout works this week

Four night closure for widening works

Drivers in and around Lincoln will face four night-time road closures at and near the A46 Riseholme roundabout, starting from Tuesday, as work continues on the £4.2 million project.

The closures will be in place from 7pm to 6am and are as follows:

  • September 1 to 3 for three evenings – A15 junction with Riseholme roundabout. There will be a diversion route via A46/A57/A156 to Marton/A1500/A15, or vice versa
  • Friday, September 4 for one evening – westbound A46 from Riseholme roundabout to Carholme roundabout. There will be a diversion via Riseholme Road/B1273/The Avenue/Saxilby Road, and vice versa

Temporary traffic signals will also be in place at all of Riseholme roundabout’s approaches.

Additional road closures on the westbound A46 and eastbound A46 will be rescheduled. These will be based on sub-contractor availability, with dates and details to be announced once confirmed.

Karen Cassar, Assistant Director – Highways, said: “Similar to last month, we will be closing parts of Riseholme Roundabout so the contractor can safely carry out road reconstruction and surfacing works where we’ve added new lanes.

“I want to reassure everyone affected that we’ll be doing our absolute best to keep disruption to a minimum, which is why we’ve decided to close the roundabout overnight instead of during the day, when there are thousands more vehicles using the A46.

“Once complete, people should start to notice fewer queues and quicker journey times when using the A46 around Lincoln thanks new exit and approach lanes and more space on the roundabout itself.”
