Gary Lineker’s brother Wayne went viral after listing criteria for his future girlfriend, including that she must know where Lincoln is.

Wayne Lineker, who owns nightclubs in Ibiza, posted on social media saying “my family have decided I need a girlfriend for my own sanity and health… so here’s my criteria…”

It prompted over 27,000 likes on Instagram and national media coverage.

First on the 58-year-old’s criteria is a commonly looked for attractive trait of a strong nice loving personality, but then Wayne’s list takes a humorous turn when the “important things” are mentioned.

Wayne, who is the brother of former footballer and sports presenter Gary Lineker, said the girl must like older men, but only him, and be a ‘worldie’ and above 30, as well as love cooking “especially Waitrose ready made meals”.

Lincoln then gets a mention as Wayne adds: “One last thing. Your geography needs to be on point, as girls that think Lincoln is in Wales is not good”.

He later posted a follow-up saying that it was “just tongue in cheek banter, a joke and nothing more than that” and he was “sorry if it has offended anyone as it clearly has” after a “mixed bag” of comments.

Comedian Joe Lycett mocked the post with a witty take of his own on Instagram.

Wayne also appeared on Good Morning Britain via video link from Ibiza the day after his online post and debated whether women prefer men with ‘dad bods’, alongside British actor Tamer Hassan.
