Takeaway driver robbed of food and assaulted

Three Scunthorpe men arrested

Three men have been arrested after a takeaway delivery driver was allegedly assaulted when food was stolen from his car in Scunthorpe.

The driver was called to make a delivery at an address in St Catherine’s Mews at 1.55pm on Monday, August 31, but when he arrived the occupants claimed they had not ordered any food.

When he returned to his vehicle and called the number used to place the order two men appeared and stole the food from the car. The men were then joined by a third man.

When the driver challenged the men he was assaulted and suffered injuries to his shoulder, head and hands.

The three men left towards the rear of St Catherine’s Mews and were described as wearing black tracksuits.

The men, aged 18, 21 and 20, were arrested at a nearby property a short time later in connection with the robbery incident.

The 21-year-old has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries. The other two men remain in police custody.
