Scampton residents fuming over asylum camp idealogical war on their doorstep

Scampton residents have expressed their anger over the ideological war unfolding on their doorstep, stemming from the government’s proposed asylum centre at the former RAF base.

Two groups with contrasting viewpoints descended on the small RAF village and camp today (Saturday), both outlining their views on the Home Office’s plan to house up to 2,000 asylum seekers at RAF Scampton.

However, members of the local community say that neither side truly represents them, noting that large portions of the people involved are not actually from the area.
