Taxpayer-funded legal battle at RAF Scampton shrouded in secrecy

Council refused to disclose the cost of its legal battle against the Home Office, but we have some clues

West Lindsey District Council has been secretive about the legal fees it has incurred in its fight against the Home Office’s plans for an asylum centre at RAF Scampton.

Despite a Freedom of Information (FOI) request asking for detailed costs associated with its legal efforts — including an injunction bid, a High Court permission hearing, judicial review, and subsequent appeal — the council declined to disclose this information, citing exemptions from disclosure requirements.
