Voice of Lincoln: Should we bring back captial punishment?

We spoke to people in Lincoln about the controversial debate

Lincoln Castle’s walls once echoed with the dark spectacle of public hangings, drawing large crowds between 1817 and 1859. But in modern Britain, where the last execution occurred in August 1964 and capital punishment was abolished in 1969, the question arises: Is it time to reconsider the death penalty for heinous crimes?

William Marwood, a Lincolnshire executioner, presided over the deaths of at least 170 individuals [read his story here]. Yet, it was not until the Human Rights Act of 1998 that capital punishment was fully eradicated from UK law.
