South Kesteven District Council Deputy Leader Richard Cleaver (Independent) offered reassurance to residents regarding the St Martin’s Park redevelopment in Stamford, stating that the project’s “bad days” are behind them.

In recent weeks, SKDC has faced criticism following revelations that it acquired land for a project on the outskirts of Stamford at a price exceeding £1.8 million above the actual value of the land. However, Councillor Cleaver has now reassured residents that the council is focused on recouping costs.

South Kesteven District Council has disclosed that it spent over £1 million above the actual value to acquire the land for its St Martin’s Park Redevelopment Project on the outskirts of Stamford.

At an Extraordinary Council meeting on Thursday, local representatives criticised the project as a “blunder,” highlighting that the council overpaid for the 14.7-hectare site on Branack Road—valued at only £6.2 million—by purchasing it for £8 million in March 2019.

A Chinese restaurant in Stamford is celebrating a food hygiene rating turnaround from ‘zero’ to ‘four’ stars.

South Kesteven District Council previously inspected Hong Kong Restaurant on All Saints’ Street on October 31, 2023 and told the business major improvement was required after giving it a ‘zero’ star hygiene rating.
