Lincoln gets its jazz moves on

Jazzing it up: Lincoln is playing host to a vast array of jazz musicians for the week across various city venues.

A range of jazz musicians will be playing across various venues in Lincoln city centre this week. Lincoln Jazz Week aims to offer people a variety of jazz styles, including Ragtime, Swing Chicago and New Orleans.

Lincolnites wanting to see the performances can find the musicians in The Lincoln Hotel and The Slug & Lettuce on May 19th, The White Hart Hotel, Cafe Portico at The Terrace and The Slug & Lettuce on May 20th, and finally in the Magna Carta on May 21st. All sessions start at 7.30pm.

After the series of events across the city, their will be a free jazz finale on May 22nd, called Jazz It Up. The finale will be held at The Barge on the Brayford, and is hosted by BBC Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior. It will feature six-piece jazz band Midnight Masquerade and begins at 6pm.

Lincoln Business Improvement Group Events and Promotions Manager Michael Armstrong said: “Jazz Week is always tremendously popular and particularly our finale event, where whole families enjoy a great evening out. We have our fingers-crossed that this week’s burst of sunshine will still be with us on Saturday evening.”
