Woman fined for 12 hoax 999 calls

Hoax calls: A young woman was fined by police after she rang and hung up on 999 operators 12 times in one day.

A 21-year-old local woman who made 12 hoax calls to 999 operators in just one day was fined £80 by Lincolnshire Police.

The force says that the woman hung up on 999 operators every one of the 12 times she rang on Wednesday, January 19.

Police traced the call and issued her with an £80 fine.

Chief Inspector Simon Craft said: “We take an extremely dim view of this kind of behaviour — it’s totally unacceptable.

“It is a complete waste of police time — diverting staff away from calls that may be a matter of life and death.”
