Poundstretcher is set to open a new store in The Birchwood Centre in Lincoln. The retailer specialises in the sale of discount household products.

The new unit, which is 9,000sq ft, will be located between St Barnabas Hospice Charity and Celebrations in the south of the city.

The outlet is planning to open its doors on Tuesday, June 28, at 9am. It will create 23 new jobs with three full-time and 20 part-time positions.

This is the second Poundstretcher store in Lincoln, with the existing outlet located at the Carlton Centre, Unit 8, Outer Circle Road.

The Birchwood Shopping Centre is a two-acre space which is anchored by a Co-op supermarket. The shopping area underwent a £7 million facelift which started in 2009 and nearly doubled the centre’s size.

The project was commissioned due to the rise in population in the Doddington Park and Birchwood areas.

Along with the Co-op supermarket, the shopping centre has a number of different stores including a Post Office, Co-op Pharmacy, opticians and hairdressers.

With this new lease to Poundstretcher, there are only three retail units in the Birchwood Centre left to let.
