Tributes for Lincoln train death victim

Tributes have been paid in memory of Declan Wilkinson, 20, who was hit by a freight train in Lincoln on August 3.

Tributes have been paid by hundreds in memory of Declan Wilkinson, 20, who was hit by a freight train in Lincoln in the early hours of August 3.

Flowers and letters were left in his memory at the train crossing on Skellingthorpe Road, as well as on a group on Facebook.

“I don’t think words could describe how much of a good lad you were, there for your friends no matter what, and just being the coolest guy ever,” wrote one friend, Dean Creasey, on the tribute group.

Another friend, Melissa Drewitt, wrote: “You will be missed by me and many others. We’ve had some good laughs together, which I’ll never forget. You always had a smile on your face and if anyone needed cheering up, you were the one to do it.”

Kerry Louise Sylvester also wrote: “So many people who cared for you and so many lovely comments. What an absolute tragedy. So unexpected and so many people left behind not being able to say goodbye. Such a shame. My thoughts are with each and everyone of you who knew him.”
