Lincoln Christmas Market 2011 programme promises carols and street theatre

Festive music: Check out the full programme for the 2011 Christmas Market, with a variety of musical and theatrical entertainment.

This year’s Lincoln Christmas Market programme, announced by organisers on Thursday, promises to fill the air with music.

The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Band will play Christmas carols for the crowds while the market is officially opened on Thursday, December 1.

The following days will be filled with a variety of musical and theatrical entertainment from the Da Capo Singers, the New Life Choir and others.

A Nativity play, the Twelve Days of Christmas and Dickens’ A Christmas Carol will be performed in St Paul in the Bail, alongside street theatre in Bailgate and Castle Hill.

“I hope every visitor to the market gets the chance to take in some of the fabulous entertainment, as well as visiting the stalls,” said Holly Parker, Events Officer at the City Council.

“There’s nothing like wandering through the stunning historic quarter of Lincoln to the sound of Christmas carols floating through the air, and stopping to watch traditional festive tales played out in the street.”
