Police arrested a local man after an attempted robbery in Lincoln and charged him with three attempted robberies in the city.

Tyrone Geoffrey Bennett (35), of Ermine Close, Lincoln, has been charged with the offences in relation to the attempted theft of cash from a travel agent in Silver Street on November 8 and the attempted theft of two cars in the area a short time later.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court this morning.

Officers were called to Silver Street at around 11.50am on November 8 after a report that a man had entered a travel agent, threatened staff and demanded cash.

The man left the shop without any cash and no-one was hurt. Officers attended the scene and arrested Bennett a short time later.
