Lincoln cyclist to travel across England in aid of cancer charity

Cycle challenge: Lincoln man will go on coast-to-coast bike ride for cancer charity.

A Lincoln cyclist will take part in a coast-to-coast bike ride on Saturday, June 16, as part of a scheme to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Simon Cowell (pictured), from Lincoln, and his colleague Matt Sparkes, from Nottingham, will attempt to complete the route in a single day.

Called Coast to Coast, The Hard Way, the two cyclists will travel 150 miles across the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.

They hope to raise a minimum of £1,000 in support of cancer sufferers and their families.

Simon said: “Over the last couple of years I have lost two friends to cancer and seen another three family members successfully beat it.

“Now this doesn’t make me unique in any way, as I’m certain that the majority of us know someone who has had or has beaten cancer.”

“The one thing that has become clear to me though, is the support that charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support give to those with cancer and to their families.”

Sponsors of the bike ride can donate at www.justgiving.com/sparkesandcowell or by texting VELO76 then £1, £2 £5 or £10 to 70070.
