Rail company looks to create Lincoln jobs

Rail opportunity: A national rail company is looking for managerial rail workers in Lincoln.

A rail engineering contractor is looking for Lincoln rail workers so the company can expand its management along an east coast line.

Vital Rail was awarded a Framework Agreement by Network Rail to supply possession management operatives on the London and North Eastern Railway (LNE) route.

From November 2012 for three years, these people will be responsible for the safety of those working trackside one the LNE route.

The LNE route stretches from London Kings Cross to Berwick-upon-Tweed, which impacts Lincolnshire.

Jobs on offer include Senior Person in Charge of Possession, Person in Charge of Possession, Hand Signaller, Level Crossing Attendant, Points Operator and Possession Assistant.

Gary Hardaker, Vital Rail’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to be awarded such a prestigious agreement and to be selected signifies a massive vote of confidence by Network Rail in our capability to deliver.

“Once we have established with Network Rail their immediate requirements, we anticipate there will be demand for qualified railway operatives at locations across the LNE route including London, Lincolnshire, South, West and North Yorkshire, Teesside and Tyne and Wear.

“This arrangement will provide opportunities for local communities and will enable people to work closer to home, which will appeal to the many operatives that usually have to travel out of the area.”

Vital Rail will be holding open days in various locations between October 16 and 19 for those interested.
