Workers on site ahead of Lucy Tower car park closure

Closure preparations: Contractors are setting up in Lucy Tower Car park this week, ahead of a 20-weeks maintenance closure from March 25.

Contractors are setting up in Lucy Tower Car park this week, ahead of a 20-weeks maintenance closure from Monday, March 25.

Mansells will be in the car park this week to windproof the site before its official closure. The car park will still be open as usual for the remainder of the week.

Signs will be installed on Saturday to help motorists find other car parks nearby, such as Orchard Street, which for the time being will be a full-time car park.

Steve Bird, Assistant Director of Communities and Street Scene, said: “There will be works going on around the car park next week, but it will still be open until the end of the day on Sunday 24.

“Leaflets are being handed out to customers using Lucy Tower in the run up to the closure, and we will be doing all we can to make sure people are not only aware it is happening, but where to find alternative parking.

“We are urging people to think ahead now and have clear plans in place for where they will park from March 25,” Steve Bird added.

The City of Lincoln Council, who manage the the parking facility, decided to close Lucy Tower for 20 weeks so essential repairs can be carried out.

The council describes the work as “unavoidable and necessary”, and will cost around £1.1 million to complete.
