The Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours to Cancer’ foundation sadly announced that the charity’s inspiring 10-year-old has lost his battle with a rare children’s bone cancer.
The charity made the announcement on social media on May 6, with messages of condolences to Ethan’s family and supporters.
Ethan Maull, from Torksey near Lincoln, was diagnosed with a rare form of Osteosarcoma, a children’s bone cancer, when he was 8 years old.
With the help of his family and friends, he helped raise funds for cancer research and accommodation for patients who travel long distances.
From his wish to help others, The Ethan Maul ‘Up Yours To Cancer’ foundation raised money for the children on ward E39 at Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
Ultimately, the money raised will also go towards specialist ‘houses’ where patients and their families can make a home from home while receiving treatment.
The statement written on the foundation’s Facebook page read:
“This is the hardest thing to write and my heart is breaking as I have to tell you all that Ethan lost his fight with cancer late last night.
“Our hearts go out to Sam, Darren & Ben. They were so very generous in sharing Ethan with everyone – their beautiful, kind, funny, courageous little boy.
“His smile lit up the world and we are all struggling to take in this devastating news. Rest in peace little man. One more angel in heaven, one more star in the sky.”
Tragic news. Ethan lost his fight with cancer last night. He was a cherub on earth & now he is a cherub in heaven. XXXXXXX
