Volunteers clear 20 bags of litter from Birchwood

Clean up day: Volunteers from the Birchwood community managed to collect 20 bags of litter from green areas of the estate.

Volunteers from the Birchwood community managed to collect 20 bags of litter from green areas of the estate.

Organised by ward councillor Rosanne Kirk, staff from City of Lincoln Council and 15 more adults, children and local Brownies helped on a project to tidy parts of the Birchwood.

The clean up project in the green areas came after a number of residents complained at the amount of litter in the area.

Councillor Rosanne Kirk said: “Thank you to all the volunteers who came along to the litter pick today.

“It was a successful event and fantastic to see so many people getting involved and helping to clean up their area.

“We are hoping to arrange future litter picks and would like to see as many people as possible taking part.

“It’s up to everyone in their community to take pride in it and events like this help to bring people together while they’re doing a good deed.”

Councillor Kirk is hoping to arrange a second clean up day shortly.
