Vodafone rolls out 4G to customers in Birchwood

Birchwood connected: People and businesses in the Birchwood area of Lincoln are joining the 4G community as part of £2 billion of investment in both 3G and 4G networks by Vodafone.

People and businesses in the Birchwood area of Lincoln are joining the 4G community as part of £2 billion of investment in both 3G and 4G networks by Vodafone.

As previously reported, Vodafone started its 4G rollout in Lincoln in March.

The scheme of improvements across 2014 and 2015 has now brought the arrival of 4G in Birchwood, where customers had not so far been able to use fast connections to the internet.

Customers on Vodafone’s Red 4G plans in the city should now be able to connect to the internet more quickly, more reliably and in more places than before.

Rivals 02, EE and 3 already have a 4G network in the city, with the latter testing one out in the north and south of Lincoln.

The introduction of 4G services is also hoped to help businesses improve productivity by enabling employees to work where and when they want.

In total, Vodafone has extended its 4G coverage to 648 larger cities, towns and districts as well as thousands of smaller communities.

The telecommunications provider plans to provide 2G, 3G or 4G services to 98% of the UK population.
