By-election set for Navenby after councillor resigns

A by-election is to be held within the Cliff Villages ward of North Kesteven District Council following the resignation of Councillor Laura Conway.

Councillor Conway, a Lincolnshire Independent, won the seat in 2011 and has stepped down due to work commitments on Tuesday, August 30.

She said that it had been a “great pleasure” to serve the people of her community over the past five years.

She also served on the planning sub-committee, overview and scrutiny and member development panels of the council and was a Navenby parish councillor.

Council Chief Executive Ian Fytche said that she was an “effective ward member and always showed great support for local people on key issues”.

Election deadlines

This resignation starts an election process which is scheduled for Harmston, Coleby, Navenby, Wellingore, Welbourne and Leadenham on Thursday, October 13.

Nominations can be made from Thursday, September 8 until 4pm on Friday, September 16.

If the election is contested, candidate names will be posted locally and on the North Kesteven Council website on Monday, September 19. Polling cards will also be issued on this date.

The last date to register to vote is Tuesday, September 27, postal vote applications are due on 5pm on Wednesday, September 28 and proxy applications by 5pm on Wednesday, October 5.
