Illyria Theatre will be bringing productions of two family-friendly outdoor theatre shows to Lincoln Castle this summer.

Both The Emperor’s New Clothes and Comedy of Errors will be performed at the historic attraction later this year.

The Emperor’s New Clothes

On Wednesday, July 26 there will be a performance of The Emperor’s New Clothes, based on the timeless Hans Christian Andersen story.

Illyria first performed the family show in 2000, when it was critic’s choice at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and attracted multiple five-star reviews on a sell-out UK tour.

Gates open at 6pm, with the performance starting at 7pm.

Tickets cost £13.50 for adults, £11.50 for concessions and £9.50 for children.

Comedy of Errors

On Wednesday, August 2, Illyria will return to the castle with their unique take on Shakespeare’s classic Comedy of Errors, a tale of two identical twins, separated at birth, who unknowingly end up in the same city.

Gates open at 6.30pm, with the performance starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £13.50 for adults, £11.50 for concessions and children.

Jon Hogan, public engagement manager, said: “Illyria are one of the best in the business, and I’m sure they’ll bring these two popular stories to life like no one else.

“So bring your picnics, chairs and friends for what promises to be two wonderful evenings of first-class outdoor theatre.”
